Chinese automotive groups are preparing for the arrival of twelve more brands over the next two years
Up to 12 Chinese brands are preparing their entry into the Spanish market during 2026 and 2027
The strong sales figures for Chinese brands like MG, Omoda, Jaecoo, Leapmotor, and Lynk&Co in the Spanish market during 2025 are just the vanguard of the large-scale Chinese automotive rollout that the Asian giant has designed in southern Europe, with Barcelona and Catalonia as its spearhead.
During 2026, new Chinese brands will arrive in our market, such as Aion (from the GAC group), Denza (BYD's luxury subsidiary), Haval (from the Great Wall Motor group), Lepas, Exlantix, iCar, and Luxeed (all from the Chery group, which also owns Jaecoo, Omoda, and Ebro), Deepal, and Zeekr (from the NIO group). To all of these, we must add the definitive arrival of the Chinese manufacturer BAIC, through its joint venture with the historic Santana brand, based in Linares, Jaén.
This massive influx of Chinese brands is explained by the BYD's great commercial success, which has become the leader in the plug-in hybrid car segment in Spain during 2025 and which is consolidating itself as the fastest growing brand in the entire state, with an annual percentage of 374% compared to the registrations of 2024, achieving a technical tie with Tesla in the electric car segment during2.
The Chery group, with a presence in Catalonia
The Chery group has the strongest ties to Catalonia, stemming from its alliance with Ebro and the Zona Franca plant. Having exceeded its 2025 sales targets thanks to the positive reception of Omoda and Jaecoo, Chery has already confirmed the arrival of the Lepas brand this year, 2026. Lepas is a brand low cost A generalist brand already operating in the UK, will begin its commercial venture with the Lepas L4, Lepas L6 and Lepas L8, three SUVs with hybrid and plug-in hybrid technology of different sizes and competitive prices.
Although it has not yet announced a planned date, Chery is also preparing the arrival of the iCar brand, specializing in electric and plug-in hybrid SUVs, and Exlantix (also called Exeed), specializing in aspirational and premium electric vehicles.
The last brand from the Chery group to arrive on the local market between this year and next will be Luxeed, a brand of high-performance electric cars with technological equipment that takes advantage of the infotainment system of Huawei, Chery's technological partner, and that delves deeper into the use of AI and high-end chips.
