The Government chooses the president of Enagás to chair the social council of the UB

Santander will propose a new board member, and Antolín is experiencing a family change.

BarcelonaThe Government has appointed the president of Enagás as the new president of the UB's social council, and just a few days ago we also explained in theCompanies Vicenç Pedret, a businessman close to Oriol Junqueras, joined Enagás as a board member. Banco Santander will propose a new board member to its shareholders' meeting, scheduled for the end of March, and the Antolín group has appointed Emma Antolín as the company's head. Below are the week's most significant appointments.

Antoni Llardén, new president of the social council of the University of Barcelona

Antoni Llardén Carratalà, president of Enagás, is the new president of the social council of the University of Barcelona, ​​appointed by the Catalan government. Llardén succeeds Joan Corominas, who has presided over the UB social council for the last ten years.

An industrial engineer by training, Llardén has held several high-level positions in the infrastructure and energy sectors throughout his career. He is currently the chairman of the board of directors of Enagás and also of the Foundation for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (Funseam). In the academic sphere, he has served as dean of the College of Engineers and as a member of the social council and president of the economic committee of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). Among other distinctions, he is a Knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honor of France.

The social council is the body through which civil society participates in the operation and governance of universities. It is made up of representatives from the social and economic sectors and collaborates with the university's governing team in defining the criteria and priorities of its strategic planning.

Mar Fàbregas, re-elected president of Aeseg

Mar Fàbregas has been re-elected president of the Spanish Association of Generic Medicines (Aeseg) for the 2026-2028 term, marking her third consecutive term leading the generic medicines industry association in Spain. The election took place during the general assembly of members, the organization's highest governing body, which also elected its board of directors and approved its main policy guidelines.

Fàbregas holds a degree in pharmacy from the University of Barcelona (UB) and completed the general management program at IESE Business School (Barcelona) and the leadership program at IMD (Switzerland). She has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over two decades and is currently the general manager of STADA Spain and head of STADA Iberia.

A new board member at Santander

The board of directors of Banco Santander will propose to its shareholders' meeting, scheduled for March 27, the appointment of Deborah Vieitas as a new independent director, subject to the corresponding regulatory approval. Vieitas will fill the vacancy left by Homaira Akbari, who has announced that she will not seek re-election and will therefore leave her position after this year's shareholders' meeting.

Deborah Vieitas is currently non-executive chair of Banco Santander Brasil and has executive experience in international banking and financial markets, having held senior management positions in international and Brazilian financial institutions. Previously, she was CEO of the Brazilian subsidiary of Caixa Geral de Depósitos and held senior positions at global financial institutions such as BNP Paribas and Crédit Commercial de France.

Family support in Antolín

Emma Antolín Granet has assumed the presidency of the multinational automotive component manufacturer Antolín, replacing her cousin Ernesto Antolín Calzada, who will become vice president after a decade at the helm. Antolín Calzada is stepping down from executive duties to focus on institutional and national and international representation, the company explained in a statement.

The new president has set as a priority the implementation of a new strategic plan, which will be based on the company's financial strength and the ongoing transformation plan, with the aim of maximizing value creation and accelerating margin improvement and cash generation.

Emma Antolín holds a degree in psychology from the Pontifical University of Salamanca, and an MBA and a master's degree infinancial managementby the Instituto de Empresa (IE). She has fourteen years of experience with the company, where she currently also serves as a proprietary director and member of the audit and appointments and remuneration committees.

Paula Zapata, new communications director at Veolia

Veolia has appointed Paula Zapata, formerly the Director of Public Affairs and Institutional Relations at Naturgy, as the new Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs for the environmental services company specializing in water, waste, and energy management. She will oversee the company's public affairs, external and internal communications, brand, sustainability, and social action initiatives. This newly created position will be part of the Veolia Group's executive committee in Spain. Zapata holds a degree in journalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), a PDG (General Management Program) from IESE Business School, and a master's degree in political communication and campaign management, also from the UAB. She has served as Director of Public Affairs and Institutional Relations at Naturgy for the past two years. She also worked at the La Caixa Group, specifically at MicroBank. Previously, she worked as a journalist for various general-interest and business media outlets.

For its part, Naturgy will replace Zapata with Alberto González Santos as director of public affairs for Spain. Until now, González Santos held the position of regulatory director at Nedgia, Naturgy's gas distribution company in Spain. González Santos has extensive experience within the energy company and, among other responsibilities, was the country manager of Naturgy in Argentina.
