Mediapro begins a new era without Tatxo Benet and other appointments of the week
Telefónica continues with internal changes, and Volkswagen secures Blume until 2030.
Since Marc Murtra joined Telefónica, the company has been undergoing a flurry of internal changes. This week, the news was the replacement of the company's long-time director, Javier de Paz, who will remain with the company in other roles, but not on the board. Likewise, Mediapro's long-time icon, Tatxo Benet, is also leaving the audiovisual giant and will be replaced by Sergio Oslé, the former president of Telefónica Spain, as its executive chairman.

Change of leadership at Mediapro. According to what was announced this week The Confidential, the former president of Telefónica Spain, Sergio Oslé, will be the new executive president of the audiovisual giant, replacing Tatxo BenetFor much of its existence, the Mediapro brand was inextricably linked to the names of Jaume Roures and Tatxo Benet. Roures was also dismissed from the group in October 2023 after agreeing to leave, dissatisfied with the ownership's future plans. Now it's Benet who is leaving, without having seen his desire to remain at the top of the company fulfilled, albeit with a different management structure and a consensus CEO.
In addition to Oslé, Mediapro will also include Carlos Núñez, who was CEO of Prisa and will now be proposed as the company's CEO, according to this media outlet. The executive was dismissed this February by Prisa's chairman, Joseph Oughourlian.
Javier de Paz leaves the board of Telefónica
Telefónica continues with internal changes on the verge of presenting a new strategic plan. This Wednesday, the board of directors of thetelecomhas approved the appointment of César Mascaraque as a new councilor, replacing the historic Javier de Paz.
De Paz, however, maintains close ties to the company. Not only does he assume the non-executive presidency of Movistar+, but he has also been appointed the new deputy director to President Marc Murtra, as well as head of the infrastructure and real estate assets divisions. Historically, De Paz has stood out for his close ties to the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party).
Volkswagen renews Oliver Blume's appointment as CEO until 2030
The Volkswagen Group Supervisory Board has announced that Oliver Blume will continue as Group CEO for another five years, following a new contract until 2030. Blume will therefore continue in his role at the German conglomerate from September 2022.
However, the end of Blume's responsibilities as CEO of Porsche AG has also been confirmed for January 1, 2026, following last week's announcement that former McLaren CEO Michael Leiters will be the sports car manufacturer's new CEO.
Ramon Pastor joins Cecot
The Cecot employers' association has appointed Ramon Pastor, president of the Leitat Technology Center, as a member of the executive committee. With this decision, Pastor also joins Cecot's board of directors and the General Assembly.

The Bank of Spain appoints a new Deputy Director General for the Economy.
The Bank of Spain's Executive Committee has approved the appointment of Javier Pérez García as Deputy Director General of Economy; this agreement was subsequently ratified by the Governing Council. Until now, Pérez held the position of Director of the Monetary Policy and International Economy Department in the same directorate general.
Since 2008, he has held various management positions, having previously worked as an economist at both the Bank of Spain and the European Central Bank. He holds a PhD in Economics from the Complutense University of Madrid. His current research agenda focuses on the economic impact and measurement of uncertainty, geopolitical risk, and the role of the public sector in the economy.
