Around 130,000 companies are at risk of bankruptcy in Spain
There are 450,000 more that are asking for funding to avoid collapse
BarcelonaIf it were not for the moratorium around the bankruptcy proceedings, 130,000 Spanish entrepreneurs would have already been dragged to court to meet their debts and then close their businesses. SMEs are at the gates of having to take this decision if they do not receive a last-minute help, according to the latest barometer of the General Council of the Colleges of Administrative Managers. "We hope not to reach this situation", says the president of the entity, Fernando Santiago, who at the same time ensures that this "surprising" figure will result in both contests of creditors and direct disappearances. "Companies are waiting for a decision that allows them to survive and therefore endure more than they can", he adds.
The barometer also explains that, beyond this, there are three times as many companies that need money not to collapse. There are 450,000 who say they are in this situation: there are about 124,000 who have already signed an ICO credit but need a new economic injection and about 214,000 more who have not signed any (or have not been granted it) and need urgent funding to ensure their future. "Entrepreneurs and freelancers do not want their businesses to disappear, but it is not good to keep this uncertainty so long: the Spanish government has to take direct action now", Santiago claims.
In fact, the compilation of data also shows that there are more than 200,000 companies that are thinking of claiming compensation from the State for the state of alarm and more than 150,000 businesses that will do it for sure to the companies with which they are insured.
