Showers will be restricted to the northeast, with clearer areas elsewhere.
The tramontana and mistral winds will strengthen at both ends of the country.
BarcelonaThe unstable situation that began on Monday is reaching its peak, with intense and widespread storms that also affected some coastal regions of the country last night and early morning, producing heavy downpours locally. This Thursday, the sun will gain ground in the south, and showers will become concentrated in the northeast, contributing to the already abundant rainfall records (more storm data available at the end of this report).
Thursday: showers in the northeast
On Thursday, the mercury will drop slightly further during the early hours of the morning, but with tropical lows on the coast and below 20°C inland, with a cooler atmosphere. During the early hours, there will still be some storms on the coast, but the morning will be calm, with some cloudy periods and wind at both ends of the territory. During the afternoon, precipitation will reappear in the Girona region, locally accompanied by thunderstorms, which will reach the coast. The atmosphere will be similar to that of Wednesday at midday, with highs ranging between 26 and 28°C on the coast, 27 and 30°C inland, and 17 and 22°C in the Pyrenean valleys.
In this regard, the Catalan Meteorological Service maintains a warning of intense rainfall for the regions of Gironès, La Garrotxa, La Selva, and Pla de l'Estany during the afternoon. In these regions, more than 20 mm of precipitation could fall in one hour, and the showers could be accompanied by thunderstorms and hail.
Friday: more stability
We'll be approaching the weekend with more stable weather, although showers will recur early in the morning in coastal areas and in the northeast during the afternoon. These showers will be strong only in the southern and western half of the country, with maximum temperatures rising slightly in the north and remaining similar or slightly lower in the rest of the country.
