Some mud showers today, ahead of rain from Storm Regina

The instability will also be caused by a pocket of cold air that will also push a lot of suspended dust into the air.

BarcelonaWe've started the first week of March marked by instability. Cloud cover has increased, and since last night, we've had some light, scattered showers or drizzle, which so far have left between tenths and 2 liters per square meter in the southern half of the region and in the west. In the coming days, we'll be closely monitoring the movements of a pocket of cold air that will settle between North Africa and the Iberian Peninsula. This is the newly named low-pressure system. Regina, which will make the weather quite complicated in the coming days. Today and tomorrow will be mostly cloudy with some light drizzle or showers, generally not much. It will be between Thursday and Friday, and again on Saturday, when we could see widespread and heavy rain, with more snowfall in the higher elevations of the Pyrenees. This precipitation will be accompanied by mud, as the same storm will bring us dust from North Africa. Therefore, don't wash cars or hang clean clothes outside, because everything will get dirty.

Tuesday: some light rain or showers

Cloud cover will return to be abundant this Tuesday across much of the country, especially in coastal and pre-coastal areas and on the southern slopes of the Pyrenees and the Pre-Pyrenees of Lleida. It is in these areas where some light and scattered showers or drizzles will occur throughout the day, although they could appear briefly and sporadically in practically any location. Generally, little rain is expected; it's not expected everywhere, but any light rain will leave everything dirty, as the water will be accompanied by mud.

The snow level will fluctuate between 1,800 and 2,000 meters. Winds, ranging from northeasterly to easterly, will strengthen along the coast, making maritime conditions increasingly rough. Minimum temperatures will be significantly higher, with very moderate cold in the early morning and maximum temperatures similar to Monday's or slightly higher.

Expecting widespread rain

The storm Regina, Located in North Africa, the system will move northward, and starting Thursday, maps indicate we could see rain everywhere. This episode could bring several bursts of rain through the weekend. Therefore, we are on the verge of another widespread rainfall event, and if the forecast holds true, this will likely force the release of water from some reservoirs, as the internal basins remain above 92% capacity and we cannot absorb much more water.

Snow will fall in the Pyrenees, mainly above 2,000 meters, although the snow level will drop slightly from Friday onwards. This will be confirmed in upcoming forecasts, but the rain will be accompanied by mud due to the presence of suspended Saharan dust. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged. Significant rainfall is also expected in the coming days in other parts of southern and eastern Spain, as well as in the Canary Islands. All of this will be accompanied by rough seas and strong winds along the coast, particularly from Wednesday onwards. As a result, Meteocat has already issued warnings for high waves and rough seas.
