Possible new changes in the weather mid-week
The showers will gain ground and the temperatures will drop a little transiently
BarcelonaWe have started the week again with intense heat and stuffiness. A heavy atmosphere that we have been dragging for days and that, despite not leaving records as scattered as in previous days, makes the sensation very warm everywhere. The novelty yesterday was that the afternoon showers and thunderstorms gained ground and strength in the western half of the country, in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees and in the Ports area. In some cases, there were real downpours accompanied by large hail, the result of so much accumulated heat. This is the case of Solsona, where the mid-afternoon hailstorm was very significant. In fact, Solsonès was the region where it rained the most, with 57 l/m² in Port del Comte. Downpours that lasted well into the night.
In the coming days, this afternoon instability will continue, which will even increase on Thursday. Everything seems to indicate that during the central part of the week the thermometers will drop and we will breathe a little better. However, it seems to be a slight and transient decrease, as from the weekend it will be very hot again.
Tuesday: new downpours and a lot of heat
The atmosphere will remain very warm and muggy. The night has once again been heavy across much of the coast, pre-coast, and southern half. In contrast, it has cooled considerably in the western and northern areas where it rained yesterday, with a cool and comfortable night atmosphere. During the day, many highs will again range between 32 and 38°C in the pre-coast and inland. On the coast, the muggy sensation will be very pronounced.
All in all, with a sky that will again be variable, with sun combined with the passage of some high and medium clouds, as well as some low clouds. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms will return to parts of the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees, especially the eastern part, and will also appear on the pre-coastal areas, in Central Catalonia and in the Ports area. These days, the rain suddenly cools the atmosphere where it falls heavily.
Locally, the showers will be heavy and may be accompanied by hail, sleet, and strong winds. Meteocat has activated a orange and yellow alert for intense rain in these areas.
Possible brief respite in the coming days
The weather will remain similar on Wednesday, with calm in the morning and new afternoon showers, mainly in areas of the north of the country. The heat and sultriness will remain intense, but changes may arrive in the coming days. Maps indicate that on Thursday instability will spread and showers could fall in more regions, also in some stretches of the coast.
A situation that we will have to follow closely, but which would open the doors to the north wind and a temporary drop in temperatures. No major cooling is coming, but it seems that the middle of the week would be more breathable, with more bearable heat. In any case, this attempt at normalization of the mercury would last little, because from the weekend and during the next week it would be very hot again.
