Midsummer days: rain is hard to come by.

BarcelonaThe sun and warmth that have dominated recent days will continue today. In fact, temperatures will rise even further, with intense heat once again exceeding 35°C in the warmest areas of the West and Ebro. The atmosphere is midsummer, but not extreme, and muggy along the coast. There will be few afternoon showers, unlike the local showers we saw yesterday in some parts of the Pyrenees and eastern Pre-Pyrenees. Perhaps showers will reach more regions between the weekend and the beginning of next week. In any case, there are no major rain episodes or storms in sight.

Wednesday: sun and more intense heat

Maximum temperatures will jump this Wednesday. They will rise throughout the interior, where the heat will be intense and mid-summer, but far from the torrid extremes of weeks past. There will be many values between 31 and 36°C, locally higher in the West and inland Ebro. On the coast, they will not rise as much, and in fact, the atmosphere will be similar to Tuesday's, but the muggy weather will be marked.

All this after a good night's sleep in most of the country, with minimums below 20°C. But in much of the coast and in some parts of the pre-coastal and southern inland areas, temperatures have remained slightly above that figure. The exception is the Raval neighborhood of Barcelona, where temperatures did not drop below 25°C and the night was very heavy. It has been many days since a torrid night has been recorded in Catalonia. In any case, it has been an exception compared to the rest of the country, due to the urban heat island.

It will be another day of sunshine and general calm. There will be some local fog or low clouds in the morning, especially in the northeast, while in the afternoon, thunderclouds in mountain areas will hardly leave any precipitation in the Pyrenees, with the occasional shower possible. A midsummer day to take advantage of. Tramontana winds in the Empordà region, especially in the morning and in the north of the area.

Few changes in sight

Sunshine, warmth, and calm will continue over the next few days. Temperatures will fluctuate slightly, but remain slightly above average. Intense heat, but not extreme. And nights will become increasingly heavy and muggy near the sea, with tropical lows and, locally, some torrid temperatures.

All but a hint of rain. A few low clouds may appear in parts of the coast and pre-coastal areas during the early mornings and early evenings, while in the afternoons, cloudy skies will recur in mountainous areas, leaving at most a few local showers in the Pyrenees. Showers may arrive in more northern and western regions between the weekend and Monday due to the passage of a small cold front, but everything seems uncertain and nothing is yet clear.
