Last day of intense heat before a significant change in weather
The first ones will appear during the evening and the night of Tuesday
BarcelonaThe atypical and historic heat that has accompanied us at the beginning of this month is numbered, with weather that will already start to change on Tuesday and temperatures that will begin their descent in some areas. It will be on Wednesday when we notice the change in weather, with intense rain, wind, rough seas, and lower temperatures everywhere, with an atmosphere more typical of meteorological autumn.
Tuesday: increase in clouds and first showers
Last day of exceptional heat, with a fairly stable mercury that could rise a little more in the Girona regions, with maximums that will reach 37 °C or 38 °C in some points and will exceed 34 °C in a good part of the interior. A calm morning, with sun dominating practically everywhere, although we will already have the first low clouds on the southern coast. During the afternoon, clouds will increase progressively and we will have the first showers and thunderstorms in the northern half, locally intense. In fact, Meteocat has already activated a danger warning for rain intensity in Solsonès, Berguedà, and Ripollès.
Wednesday: storms and downpours
The arrival of a front and the entry of wind at both ends of the territory will characterize Wednesday's change in weather, with precipitation that will affect a good part of the country and will be locally intense. Meteorological models concentrate the bulk of the downpours on the central coast and pre-coastal areas and in the center of the country, but the situation is still uncertain. What is clear, however, is that the wind will be intense at the ends, with tramontane and mistral winds, and that the temperature will drop notably everywhere. The mercury will drop between 7 °C and 13 °C, with many maximums between 22 °C and 26 °C, very far from the values of previous days.
In this regard, Meteocat has activated danger warnings for rain intensity (20 mm in half an hour) in a large part of the counties of the northern and eastern half of the country. There is also an active warning for rain intensity (>60 mm) in three hours for the central and southern coast and pre-coastal areas, the Barcelona Pre-Pyrenees, Central Catalonia, and the eastern Pyrenees.
