Temperatures will be the main focus these days, as they will soar starting today due to the arrival of a bubble of very warm air from North Africa. June. Highs will exceed 30°C in the pre-coastal and inland areas, but towards the west, temperatures of over 37°C or 38°C could be recorded in the mountains this afternoon.

Tuesday: scorching heat inland

Temperatures will soar today. We wake up to a generally mild atmosphere, even somewhat warm in some places. A temperature rise has been noted since early morning, with many municipalities already exceeding 20°C from the early hours. Be careful with the highs, as they will rise sharply and hover between 30°C and 35°C in much of the pre-coastal and inland areas. However, the West is where it will be hottest, with values between 36°C and 38°C.

A sweltering atmosphere is completely out of character for the dates. In some stretches of the coast, temperatures may also reach or slightly exceed 30°C, with very marked muggy conditions. The sun will be accompanied by some cloudy periods and more suspended dust, leaving a cloudier and chalky sky. This afternoon, cloudy skies in the mountains will bring some scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly affecting parts of the Pyrenees, the Pre-Pyrenees, and other inland areas of the northern half.

Forecast map for Tuesday afternoon.

Showers could be locally heavy, so the Catalan Meteorological Service has issued warnings for intense rain in the afternoon for many regions in the northern half. It's very hot, and the storm clouds could grow quite violent.

Wednesday: warm peak

The presence of a low pressure system off the southwest of the Iberian Peninsula will generate more unstable weather in some areas of the Iberian Peninsula, especially on Wednesday and Thursday in the western part of the Iberian Peninsula. However, in Spain, its effects will be limited, with only a few scattered, minor showers forming in the northern and western half. The news will be that temperatures will peak on Wednesday in several regions, adding another one or two degrees. Peak heat will be expected with a stifling atmosphere and highs of between 36°C and 39°C in the West. This will be accompanied by more tropical nights and poor sleep—not just on the coast—as well as a steady pulse.

On Thursday, temperatures will generally drop slightly, but the warm, summery atmosphere will continue. The maps indicate that between Friday and the weekend we would once again experience a scorching peak, especially inland, with highs once again exceeding 37°C or 38°C in the West. We've entered a period of very high temperatures for the time of year and the height of summer, and it seems this situation will continue for days.
