"I was very jealous until I learned to trust myself."

The love story of presenter, dancer, and content creator Nadine Romero

One night in 2017, dancer and presenter Nadine Romero walked into a nightclub in Manresa with her dance students. Romero started dancing at a young age, so they were all roughly the same age. She was 21. "That night I didn't want to go out, and that night I met the love of my life," Romero explains, eight years later. The love of her life is Óscar, whom she will marry next year.

The night they met, he approached her after watching her dance and asked if he could buy her a beer. "Okay, but if you also invite my sister," Romero replied, confessing that she likes to be in charge, so she does it whenever she can. Of Óscar from eight years ago, for example, she remembers that he seemed very handsome, but that he was "very badly dressed." "Recently, I finally got him to take off the horrible sweatshirt he was wearing that day," she explains, smiling.

From the very beginning of their relationship, Romero was very clear that she wanted to be with Óscar, and only Óscar. "I really liked him, and I'd always thought that love would be difficult for me, that I'd have to settle for someone I didn't really like. I've always seen myself as pretty, but fatter than my friends, and that made me feel inferior." Over time, she accepted that all bodies are beautiful and gained self-confidence. "I was very jealous until I learned to trust myself. At first, I didn't like my boys having friends, but that was because I felt insecure. Now I trust myself, and Óscar has always made me feel safe." Even so, when she was younger, she says it was common for the other boys she'd been with to try to make her jealous, "because they misunderstood love and thought jealousy was love."

For her, love is above all about sharing the same values. "No matter how much you like someone, if they don't share the same values, things will go wrong." Oscar and she were clear that they wanted to get married and have children. "We're very family-oriented, and in fact, both of our families are very similar," explains the dancer.

Last summer, he proposed to her on a trip to the Maldives. "I don't speak English very well, so he arranged everything right in front of me without me even knowing anything," she explains. She surprised him with a diamond ring and a candlelit dinner surrounded by rose petals. And wait for it: "It will be the wedding of the year," the dancer warns.
