Falling in love with the nightclub security guard

Bodybuilder Sabrina Araújo was 22 when she fell in love for the first time, having recently arrived in Catalonia from her native Brazil. Her sudden infatuation happened at a Barcelona nightclub, Lokotron, and the person she fell in love with was the club's security guard, David: "I fell in love with his eyes." The sudden infatuation, she says, was mutual. "It turns out we had a mutual friend, and he asked her for my phone number. Without knowing it, I had already written to my friend, telling her to write to him so I could give him my phone number." And so, long before Tinder and through her friend, the couple made match.

Then Sabrina had to leave for Brazil, and in those first few months they got to know each other through the screen. "We chatted on Messenger," the athlete recalls. Three months later, they met again in Catalonia, and their love story began. And trust. With respect and trust, you can do anything. We work together, have several businesses, and are parents. We spend almost 24 hours together, but we never get tired of each other."

One day, while training, Sabrina composed and recorded a three-minute song about their first thirteen years together, in which she thanked him for the growth they shared and all the experiences they had, like the birth of their three daughters, the good times and the difficult ones. Her second pregnancy, with the twins, was one of those difficult times. "I had a blood clot and almost died. I was saved thanks to a blood transfusion: luckily, it wasn't my time to leave yet. I had a really hard time because David was on duty abroad in Spain. It was post-pandemic, and it was very chaotic. It was very hard, but I am a strong woman inside and out."

The bodybuilder explains that sport has always helped her. "It's my cheap psychologist," she says. Although competition requires many sacrifices—she follows a very strict diet and trains for at least an hour every day, including Sundays—it's also her passion, which she shares whenever possible with her partner.
