Boris Johnson, from Miami to Ukraine; from Shakespeare to Churchill
The former premier has made conferences one of his main sources of income since he left Downing Street in 2022
LondonThe former prime minister Boris Johnson, 62, spends a week a month in South Florida as a visiting professor of political science at the University of Miami, an activity as lucrative as it is comfortable: little preparation, captive audiences, and the opportunity to present himself as the man clever that he has always cultivated. It is one of their many enriching businesses since was forced out of Downing Streetfour years ago.Since then, Johnson lives, above all, from the conferences he gives around and from writing columns without editors that denounce his falsehoods. Between 2022 and 2024, he invoiced about six million euros for these activities, according to the Financial Times and the agency that represents him, Harry Walker. To this must be added the royalties from his memoirs (2.4 million) and the annual allowance of up to 135,000 euros as ex-prime minister. His estimated fortune is between 18 and 24 million euros.
He is the father of four children from his marriage to Carrie Symonds and another six from previous partners. His future no longer lies in politics. He is writing an endless book about Shakespeare for which he was paid 580,000 euros in 2015 and which he has not yet published, but about which he says it mixes the celebration of "the most famous Briton of all time" with reflections on power, fratricide, jealousy or political corruption.
