The best summer nights that Ramon Madaula remembers have always been on a porch. "Whenever I think of summer nights, I think of a porch. It's a space that allows you to have dinner, chat, play cards…", says the actor. Of all the porches that have been in his life, one of the ones he remembers most is that of a farmhouse they rented for a couple of summers in Ibiza, twenty years ago. "I remember those nights as some of the most beautiful of my life, with my wife, my daughters, and some of my daughters' friends. A very pleasant breeze passed through the porch of that house, we were almost alone on that side of the island, and at night you could hear the cicadas. The girls were at a very beautiful age, they were about 12 or 13 years old, you could already talk to them, we played cards until late and had many fun times together", Madaula recalls.

His love for porches, he explains, comes from childhood: "My parents had a small house with a small porch, and every night we had dinner outdoors. They had a portable TV and they would bring it outside". Now he also spends almost all his summer nights on the porch of his house, in the company of his partner, the actress Sílvia Munt. "We are lucky to have a small porch and we spend our evenings there. For us it is a joy, we don't even turn on the TV. There are some swallows that have nested on the porch and we are entertained watching them build their nest. We don't need anything else, a cool dinner, good company, and a glass of cool white wine. They are nights with few expectations and a lot of serenity", says Madaula.

Whether on a porch or not, for him the most important thing about summer nights is the company. "Good company is what makes everything beautiful, otherwise everything is a bit of a disaster. I'm never good alone", he explains. In fact, he doesn't remember his summer nights when he was single. "I have them erased. For me, all the nights of partying and having a good time have always been nights of failure, of having high expectations and then finding yourself with noise, discomfort, and mess", he assures. The same thing happens to him with his teenage summer nights: "For me, adolescence was a bad time. I was always in love with the wrong person and had a bad time. I didn't like drinking alcohol or smoking, because instead of giving me joy, they made me sink. It was a sad time", he admits.

He does miss the Sant Joan bonfires on every street corner of the neighborhood, where neighbors would burn old chairs and furniture: “It was a very atavistic experience.” However, he does not consider himself a nostalgic person: “I'm so stubborn that I think the best is yet to come. Objectively, I suppose I've already passed the best part of my life, but I still live with excitement for everything that awaits us.”
