This is what the memorial and columbariums of the new Camp Nou will look like

Barça will begin construction this November on the space dedicated to the memory of thousands of Barça fans

ARA

BarcelonaA major development has emerged at Espai Barça. As this newspaper has confirmed, the Catalan club will begin construction this November on the Memorial, a space designed to honor members and fans from several generations. Running parallel to the stadium renovations, which are scheduled to reopen to the public during the second quarter (November-January) of the 2025-26 season, the plan is for the memorial construction to take approximately a year, until the end of 2026. The project is being led by the Terrassa-based company Espanyol, which also operates the Cornellà-El Prat stadium. Among the details obtained by ARA is the size of the space, which will cover 1,280 square meters, making it the largest memorial in the world associated with a sports organization. The Barça memorial, to be built in the stadium's basement between the north goal and the side stand, will have a capacity for 26,600 columbarium niches, 9,000 commemorative plaques, and other symbols designed to preserve the memory of Barcelona fans who wish to be part of it. The club has accelerated its construction in part after dozens of members and fans from Catalonia, Spain, and around the world expressed their desire to have their ashes—or a portion of them—placed next to Camp Nou.

This memorial building will also feature audiovisual projections and interactive resources, creating a space for friends and family to pay tribute to their loved ones. It is planned that the space will be open during business hours. With its inauguration, Barça will become the fourth Spanish League football club to have such a space, following Espanyol, Atlético de Madrid, and Betis.

How much will it cost to have a plaque or a columbarium at Camp Nou?

Barça will sell commemorative plaques with names, surnames, and commemorative messages starting at €605, a price that will increase depending on whether accessories are added, such as an official first-team kit or a bracelet with a Camp Nou detail in gold and diamonds. With these two gifts, the package will cost €1,220. Two years ago, in the initial announcement of the project, the club predicted the plaques would cost €300. Now, with the site ready for the laying of the foundation stone, the price has doubled. Regarding the columbarium niches, there are two options. If the concession is for 50 years, members who wish to purchase one will have to pay €6,000. If the concession is for 25 years, the price will be €3,000. The revenue will be in the millions if the initiative is successful among Barça fans. In response to questions from this newspaper, Barça confirmed that Limak is not involved in the construction of the memorial space and that Goldman Sachs will not finance it as part of the loan agreement signed before work began at the stadium.
