Sabadell knows no fear and returns from Castelló with a point of gold
The harlequin team again shows a good image away from home and stops one of the most offensive teams in the category
BarcelonaSabadell has returned with a firm step to the Second Division. Ferran Costa's team has chained a second consecutive away draw at the stadium of one of the favorites to be promoted to the First Division, Castelló (0-0). The "orellut" team, which last season stood out for its offensive play, has found itself powerless when attacking against a Sabadell that has had the best opportunities to return to Vallès with three points. After drawing in Gijón on the first matchday, the "arlequinats" have chained a second goalless draw before their home debut next weekend against Almeria.
Ferran Costa has made few changes to the team. One has been the presence of the American forward Niko Gioacchini, who after a few weeks on trial, has convinced the "arlequinada" sports management. And it was Niko who had the best chance of the match when, after a great play by Miki Codina and Joel Priego, he shot into the sky all alone in front of the local goalkeeper. During the first half, Sabadell imposed its law with a new exhibition in midfield by Urri, Quadri, and the veteran Pere Pons, who is once again enjoying football at home after his years in Cyprus. The "arlequinats" had a dangerous free kick and approached the local area on different occasions, while in defense Edgar and Bonaldo protected a Fuoli who had no work. Edgar, despite seeing a yellow card in the first few minutes, managed to win the duel against the local forwards.
In the second half, Sabadell remained very focused and Miki Codina from Osona had a very good chance. The full-back, who played for Zamora last year, has become one of the team's key players in two matches by controlling the entire right flank, both in defense and attack. Castelló failed to impose their rhythm until the last 15 minutes of the match, when fatigue began to take its toll on a Sabadell side that presses high and covers a lot of ground to block opponents. Ferran Costa protected the team by giving minutes to Xavi Moreno and Eneko, who defended with a lower block that managed to protect the Catalan goal well. Costa also gave the Uruguayan striker Gastón Vallés his debut in a match where the 'arlequinats' secured a second valuable point in a very difficult stadium. For now, Sabadell isn't scoring, but they aren't conceding goals either. And all this, before the final week of the transfer window, where some movements are expected. One should be the loan of Miguelete, who didn't play today, and the arrival of at least two more players to further strengthen a project that, for now, has left very good impressions on their return to the Second Division. Next week, Sabadell will debut the new pitch at the Nova Creu Alta against Almería in a match where all tickets could be sold, as the club has announced that they have already surpassed 9,000 members. Many of them were present today at Castalia accompanying a team that has returned to the Second Division with their heads held high.
