BarcelonaSabadell has returned to professional football, earning a point in a stadium like El Molinón. Great image from the arlequinat squad, who for many minutes imposed their style of play against a historic Spanish football club like Sporting de Gijón (0-0). The Catalans missed a goal with a penalty missed by Rahmani, but they begin their journey in the Second Division with a valuable away point.

1,905 days after the fateful night of May 30, 2021, when Sabadell left professional football, the arlequinat squad – in black for their debut – came out very bravely in their return to the Second Division. Neither the imposing Molinón – renamed in honor of Enrique Castro Quini– nor the demands of the league have intimidated Ferran Costa's team, who imposed their idea from the first minute of play.

The Catalans had several opportunities to take the lead and surprise a team like Sporting de Gijón. In fact, the clearest chance was a penalty committed on the arlequinat center-back Edgar González, which Rahmani squandered with a shot too close to the right post of the goal defended by Rubén Yáñez from Lloret. A warning shot for the Asturian team, which activated after the Catalans' mistake.

But where the arlequinada defense didn't reach, Diego Fuoli did. The slips –caused by the poor state of the grass in some areas of the pitch– have not prevented a great performance from the Aragonese goalkeeper, who despite rumors of a possible departure has proven to be an important piece of Ferran Costa's team. First clean sheet of the season for a Fuoli who was already key in the promotion to Segunda.

Sabadell has not been intimidated at any moment, has shown its bravery and has warned all opponents that it will be a very tough rival to beat. At the end, Ton Ripoll attempted an Olympic goal from a very tight corner that forced Yáñez to stretch to prevent the goal, even though the referee had indicated a foul on the Catalan goalkeeper. With the peace of mind of having already secured the first point, the "arlequinats" will seek their first victory of the season on Sunday at Castelló's ground (7:00 p.m.) before their home debut against Almeria, with the new turf at the Nova Creu Alta already ready.
