The hot notes

A monument will have to be made to Lewandowski.... The notes in heat of Osasuna-Barça

Flick's team, after a poor first half, wins in Pamplona and could be champion this Sunday

02/05/2026

BarcelonaAfter almost two years, it seemed that Barça would draw a goalless match, a forgotten result for Barcelona fans. But Lewandowski made the difference with a good header and the game broke open in the final minutes. If Espanyol helps, the title could fall in a few hours. Who knows if Arbeloa's team will have to give a guard of honor to a team that knows how to win even in complicated contexts.

An encouraging classic

Some of us prefer that Barça doesn't become champion this Sunday. This way, the spotlight will be on the women's team if they do their job by qualifying for the Champions League final. And thus, Flick's team will have a historic opportunity to win the title against their eternal rival, Real Madrid. I understand those who want to win the title as soon as possible, but being able to win against Arbeloa's disciples is exciting. Now, seeing a guard of honor also has its charm. Both options are quite good, in essence. Things about being a champion team.

A less spectacular Barça

In fact, it has been known for days that Barça will be champions. It has not been an easy end to the season, with tired players, others injured, and a few who are not playing well. If a year ago Barça was an exciting team that even aspired to the Champions League final, this one will win La Liga with more mundane performances. A less spectacular team that knows how to win without Lamine Yamal or Raphinha. And it has its merit. The second half, without being spectacular at all, showed that the strong point of this team is the way it competes.

Thinking about the World Cup

Overall, the match was nothing special. Especially the first half, in which Osasuna could have scored a goal and the Barça players seemed incapable of shooting between the posts. Luckily Flick gave them a talking-to at halftime, because, seeing the first half, more than one fan must have thought, "I wish the World Cup would come sooner," because this end of the season could be a long one for Barça. All that remains to be known is when they will win the League. Some players, however, will have to step up if they want to play well in the World Cup. Players like Dani Olmo or a Ferran who took a weight off his shoulders by scoring the second goal. He needed it.

The Lewandowski effect

When the World Cup arrives, the Barcelona fanbase will experience one of those summers where a player who shines with their national team will surely end up on the list of potential signings. Because signings are needed. A defender is needed. And a forward is needed. We will never be grateful enough to Lewandowski, who wanted to come to the club at a complicated time and has scored a lot of goals. But it's time to think about the future, even though the Pole scores pure striker goals like the one that decided the match. If he wants to stay, he will have to accept that he might not always play. If he leaves, he will deserve a great tribute.
