BarcelonaIt is not at all common to see a professional tennis player lose a match without having won a single game. And much less so, for it to be an ATP top-10 player. But that's what has happened to Russian Daniil Medvedev in his debut at the Monte Carlo Masters 1000, where he was defeated by Italian Matteo Berrettini (6-0, 6-0).

It is the most humiliating defeat of the career of Medvedev, 30 years old, who at one time occupied the number 1 ranking and is currently in position 10. Furthermore, he did it against an opponent who occupies position number 90. Nothing foreshadowed this outcome because in the first game he had two break points on Berrettini's serve. He missed them and from here began the military parade of a tennis player who came fresh from the first round, as he did not have to play the first match due to Bautista Agut's retirement.

Frustrated, angry with the world, and full of rage, Medvedev ended the match by destroying his racket, which he threw with great violence onto the clay court of the Monegasque arena. An image that has gone viral, due to its forcefulness and a completely incredible result.

After this triumph, Berrettini will play the round of 16 in Monte Carlo against the winner of the match between Brazil's João Fonseca (40) and France's Arthur Rinderknech (27).
