BarcelonaA few months after starting his second spell at FC Barcelona, Xavi Pascual explained the reasons for his departure in a press conference. "I had many doubts about coming, but I had two internal commitments, that of Joan Carles Navarro and that of Joan Laporta. That's why we put a release clause because I was afraid of not adapting. From 2014 to 2016 I had a bad time and I promised myself I would never suffer again. I'm leaving Barça because I suffer a lot. Defeats don't allow me to be a person. I'm not the right person to start the exciting project. This decision will be good for Barça and everyone will find their place. Everyone will come out a winner," said the coach.

"This press conference format was decided by me. Rafa Yuste wanted to sit next to me, but I preferred to be alone," he clarified. "There is no war between Barça and Xavi Pascual. My Barcelonism is intact. There have been zero problems with the sports management. The information is not true and we have worked together. I made the decision on Saturday, May 16. The situation is one of wear and tear. I am not the same person who left the club in 2016. I have become accustomed to a way of doing things that is different from that of a multi-sport club. This has represented a great deal of wear and tear for me," Pascual acknowledged."I can't stand losing to Barça, and that wears me out a lot. This has destroyed me. It was me who didn't manage to qualify the team for the play-offs", added the coach, who has not closed the doors to returning to the Barça club in the future. "I would do it again". The coach has not clarified if he will sign for Dubai Basketball. "That's not the time now".

Joan Carles Navarro, general manager of Barça.

"When Valencia qualified for the final four, I accelerated my decision. I thought and matured the decision. I am sorry for the fans. There were exaggerated and unreal leaks and everything accelerated. I did not want to be a problem for the future of the club. I have made a brave decision. Men must dress from the feet up," he explained.“Rafa Yuste, Enric Masip and Joan Laporta have done everything possible, but there is no turning back. It is a very difficult decision, but there is no going back. When I returned, I accepted what Barça offered me without negotiating a single euro”, who has admitted to having four offers on the table.“The team is breathing a lot of desire to finish this season well. There are many people who will not continue, and we want to end the season with a victory. We want to win this play-off. I would like to ask the Palau to continue together. I want to end this stage in the best possible way,” he said with a choked voice."I am not the right person"

Pascual has maintained a very conciliatory tone. "I'm sorry this is becoming a problem. I have a great competitive spirit, but there has been no conflict with the technical management. I would like everyone to row in the same direction. The team is united," he summarized.

"I don't claim to be right about anything. The club has its own dynamic and has encountered a person who sees things differently. The way of operating is not what I need to lead the team to win. It's not about accusing anyone. I remain a Barcelona supporter and a Laporta supporter, but I'm not the right person," Pascual has admitted."We have analyzed how to compete against superior economic powers. We have worked very hard and done a very good job. The team will be at the very top, but the economic power of other teams is different. The new team is well conceived," he clarified. The budget of the Barça team, which has already closed the signings of Moses Wright, Josh Nebo, Olivier Nkamhoua and Mike James, will grow from 28 to 37 million euros."The club's situation is very complicated, but I don't want to talk about the private conversations I had with president Laporta," he acknowledged. "I have always been upfront. I am not leaving badly, it is a decision I have made with my head and my heart," he concluded.
