GironaThe Girona Fairs premiered on Friday, but the Girona Fairs were the ones that kicked off a festive weekend for the city. Vanat, Unai Hernández, Carles Pérez and company gave permission to all citizens so that, after having a feast at Montilivi in the rout against Celta Fortuna (5-1), they can have a blast going on the rides, playing the camel races and dancing at the stalls, inaugurated at dawn with a concert by Miki Núñez, who came out on stage wearing the red-and-white shirt.
The Girona side flowed as it had not yet done. The scoreboard already showed 4-0 at halftime, a fact that turned the match into the most peaceful one in living memory. The team enjoyed itself, the stands did too, and even Quique Álvarez took a breather and smiled a little, moving away from the serious demeanor he usually presents. The victory allows them to put pressure on the top of the table and consolidate the team's great momentum, having lost only one match in the last nine rounds. The man of the match was Vanat, who scored more goals (three) than he had in the entire League so far (two).
The coach got it right by giving the first start of the season to Unai Hernández, who was positioned in the attacking midfield, where he wove complicity with Vanat. The two of them were the protagonists of the first three goals: the Catalan assisted the Ukrainian in the first, and the latter returned the gesture in the second. They were two shots with suspense, but they went in. The third arrived after a clear penalty that the referee needed to go and see on VAR to end up expelling Meixús and frustrating any possibility for Celta Fortuna. Vanat, of course, did not fail.
Olunga, pioneer in hat-tricks
The forward took the ball home after scoring a hat trick with a great finish against Coke, already in the second half, taking advantage of a magnificent assist from Mateu Morey, who was involved in many of the white and reds' decisive plays. The last hat trick by a Girona footballer was scored by Artem Dovbyk. On the list are illustrious names like the Kenyan Michael Olunga, author of the first hat trick by a Girona footballer in the First Division.
Before the break, a strike from Carles Pérez had meant the fourth. But Montilivi wanted more and was calling for Stuani, who was applauded on the sidelines while warming up. Taking advantage of the commotion, Óscar Marcos finished off a counterattack for Celta Fortuna to reduce the deficit. Practically no one noticed, because the party continued.
The demand from Montilivi was rewarded and Stuani entered the pitch amidst an impressive roar. The stadium did not collapse by a miracle, as it showed him the love it professes for the entity's top scorer. Stuani is also on the list of hat tricks, of course, even though he hadn't played since the month of August because he now has a very residual role. But no one has forgotten his merits, nor the countless afternoons of joy he has starred in. Everyone goes crazy when they see him. A goal would have been the icing on the cake, but, despite looking for it, he didn't find it. It didn't matter at all. People were happy seeing him play and celebrating the Girona rout.
