Catalonia and Aragon have reached a "technical agreement" for their candidacy to host the 2030 Winter Games. As advanced by 'La Vanguardia' and confirmed to ARA by government sources, the Generalitat and the Aragonese executive have closed a deal this Friday which the two administrations will have to ratify in the coming days. Soon they will have to present the project to the IOC, which can make changes. The "technical" agreement is prior to the political agreement, which will have to be finalised soon. According to the current agreement, Catalonia would host the ski mountaineering events (in Boí Taüll), ice hockey (Palau Sant Jordi), alpine skiing, downhill and slalom (La Molina-Masella), and snowboarding and freestyle (Baqueira Beret). Aragón would host the biathlon, cross-country skiing, figure skating, long and short track speed skating and curling. Ski jumping, Nordic combined, bobsleigh and skeleton will be held abroad because neither Catalonia nor Aragon have the necessary infrastructures. The technical agreement does not include the official name of the candidature.
