Carles Puyol, headliner of a controversial congress for "men in crisis"
The former Blaugrana captain will give a talk on Saturday, April 18th titled 'My Story: Struggle, Purpose, and Victory'
BarcelonaCarles Puyol will participate this Saturday, April 18, in the Fearless Congress. These are three-day events (from April 17 to 19) for "men in crisis" that will take place in Guadalajara, Mexico. The former Barça captain – who is one of the figures in Barça fandom who has most publicly supported Barça women's team in recent years – is the headliner with a talk titled My story: struggle, purpose, and victory. Puyol is presented as a football legend, world champion with Spain, and former captain of Barça. On the congress website, they highlight the "leadership with character" of the native of La Pobla de Segur. They also describe him as a person who "embodies a firm and humble masculinity on and off the field and shows that true greatness is built with dedication, sacrifice, and coherence".
The conferences define themselves as "the largest masculinity congress in Latin America" and highlight the "silent crisis that men are experiencing: confused, empty, and disconnected from their purpose". Among the messages that can be read on their website is the weakening of male identity, and they claim to have "cured" 1,381 men. Apart from Puyol, former Madrid player Kaká should also participate, although his presence is not yet confirmed.
The controversial congress, according to the organizers, is focused on "men seeking clarity, strength, inner healing, and a real purpose, women who wish to understand the heart of man and accompany him better, married couples who want to strengthen their union as a couple, families who want to reconcile, reinforce bonds, and strengthen their mission as a family, priests and educators who accompany men, youth, and families on their spiritual journey, and young people who need guidance, identity, direction, and brotherhood".
