Barça and Villarreal face off this Saturday at the Camp Nou (4:15 pm) in Matchday 26 of La Liga. The Blaugrana, who have reclaimed the top spot in La Liga, are looking for a win that would temporarily extend their lead over Real Madrid to four points. Meanwhile, Villarreal are aiming to consolidate their third-place position in the standings. The Yellow Submarine are three points ahead of Atlético de Madrid and nine points clear of Real Betis, the first team currently outside the Champions League qualification places. Hansi Flick's side come into this match after a 3-0 victory against Levante, breaking a run of two consecutive defeats (against Atlético de Madrid and Girona). This game serves as the prelude to Tuesday's Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Atlético, where the Catalans must overcome a 4-0 deficit to reach the final at La Cartuja. Villarreal, on the other hand, has won the last two Valencian derbies (against Levante and Valencia). Marcelino's team came from behind to beat Valencia in the last league match (2-1). Barça will be without Frenkie de Jong—who has a distal biceps injury in his right leg that will keep him out for five to six weeks—, Gavi, and Christensen. Gerard Martín will also be unavailable due to yellow card accumulation. Villarreal, meanwhile, has Gerard Moreno, Kambwala, Pau Cabanes, Logan Costa, and Juan Foyth all sidelined with injuries.
