BarcelonaBarça and Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement for the sale of Ferran Torres. The forward from Foios will change clubs this summer for a figure that will be around 50 million euros, according to confirmed Blaugrana sources. The agreement is total and will be official at the weekend, once all contracts have been drafted and signed. Thus, Ferran, who has already trained separately from his teammates these days, will be released from his obligations to the Blaugrana team and will take a plane to Paris in the coming hours to undergo a medical examination.

It was already foreseeable that Ferran's future was far from Barça, especially after the footballer looked favorably upon the proposal made by PSG, the club managed by Luis Enrique. The coach knows the Foios native well, having had him as a player in the Spanish national team. The interest dated back to before the World Cup, but the goal that secured Spain's victory in the final, precisely scored by El Tauró, increased the chances of PSG deciding to sign him. Last weekend, after agreeing economic terms with the player, they contacted Barça from Paris to begin negotiations that concluded this Thursday.

Ferran had one year left on his contract and Barça, initially, wanted to renew him. However, they were waiting until after the summer because there was a clause in his contract stating that if he renewed with Barça, he would have to pay Manchester City 8 million euros. As this would impact "fair play", the club preferred to wait. Ultimately, this process will no longer be necessary. The figure of 50 million euros is viewed positively by the Blaugrana club because, in the same way, City – the club that sold Ferran in the winter of the 2021-22 season – had included a clause to collect a capital gain of up to 10 million if Ferran's sale exceeded 55 million.

Barça is left without a specific center forward in the first team

With this sale, added to the departure of Robert Lewandowski, Barça is left without a pure centre-forward in the first team, which is why it will have to intensify efforts to cover this position before the summer market ends. The player sought by the Blaugrana is Julián Álvarez, but negotiations with Atlético de Madrid are stalled. Thus, an additional economic effort will be necessary or technical secretary, Deco, must find an alternative footballer in the market.
