The II BonpreuEsclat Solidarity Rice Meal once again demonstrates the strength of society and business
The Bon Preu Group has celebrated the II Solidarity Rice Meal at El Xampany space in Cervelló, an event that brought together nearly 1,000 people between customers and collaborators. The project has already accumulated more than €382,000 raised through different solidarity actions.
The success of the II Bonpreu Esclat Solidarity Rice Dish speaks for itself. The initiative has managed to raise 16,432 euros through ticket sales, a figure that adds to the 382,666 euros already achieved by the Una Generació amb Empenta project, which groups together the different solidarity actions promoted by the Bon Preu Group.
The event, with a festive and family-friendly format, included children's activities and a special live program from El matí i la mare que el va parir,, from Ràdio Flaixbac, and culminated with the solidarity performance by the Catalan group Doctor Prats, which brought the day to a close.
During the 2025 school year, the money raised has allowed for the financing of more than 99,350 school meals and has directly benefited 601 children from 81 public and subsidized schools throughout Catalonia.
As explained by Belén Marín, co-director of Educo programs, and Jordi Àlvarez, head of prospecting and project development at Fundesplai, initiatives like that of Grup Bon Preu contribute to generating new income and raising awareness of the current situation. Only 20.6% of students currently have access to a school meal scholarship.
The cost of the school canteen continues to be a difficulty for many families. This academic year, the price of the service has been set at 7.54 euros per day, 4% more than the previous year and the highest in the State. For households with fewer resources, this expense can represent up to 19% of family income. In this context, solidarity initiatives such as those promoted by Grup Bon Preu contribute to alleviating inequalities and guaranteeing basic opportunities for children. In Catalonia, one in three children is at risk of poverty or social exclusion, and more than 84,000 cannot consume meat, fish, or chicken at least every two days, a figure that highlights the importance of strengthening social support networks.
“We are very satisfied with the response from our community. The success of this second edition and the commitment of all participants encourage us to continue promoting a project that has a direct impact on the well-being of children,” highlighted the director of marketing and communication for the Bon Preu Group, Manel Prat.
The II Solidarity Rice Festival of Bonpreu Esclat has had the support of the Cervelló Town Hall and 68 collaborating companies, which have contributed to making the event a reality, demonstrating the strength of the business network around this solidarity project. The participating companies are Ab Seguretat, Aedea, Anguera Maquinaria, Arròs Montsià, Asts, Bizerba, Cafes Novell, Coca-Cola European Partners Iberia, Cold Generation, Colomer i Rifà, Construccions Narcís Matas, Cal Blay, Crostres, Cuick, Damm, Danone, Darq, Deister, Dibosch, Dorseran, Elecvic, Emelec, Events, Emtek, Epta, Espinaler, EY, FIP, Fraikin, Fredist, Fredvic, Frit Ravich, Frivalls, Ga-p, Gircon, Grup Iman, Grup Protecta, Haller Print, Hercal, Hym Group, Jòdul, JSV, Jungheinrich, Kubicat, Marlex, Mcamps, Mecakim, Mplus Serveis, Mur Arquitectura, NCR, Nebraska, Neteges Neresnan, Nordlogway, Ocado, Open Print, Reproduccions Sabaté, Roansa, Semic, Senfri, Sipay, STC Nedap, Sud Renovables, Sumuve, Tècnics en seguretat i foc, Thermiafred, Toyota Automated Logistics, Vilà i Vila i Voltes.
Small gestures with a big impact
The project A generation with drive is based on a diversified financing model that combines the group's own resources with accessible initiatives involving customers, the community, and suppliers, such as solidarity rounding or anti-waste 'packs' sold through the Too Good To Go platform, the profits from which are entirely dedicated to this initiative. To continue adding resources, Grup Bon Preu has announced a significant novelty: the expansion of anti-waste 'packs' with the incorporation of products from the Bonprofit section, which includes ready-made meals and rotisserie items. This measure will further reduce food waste and increase funds for lunch grants.
