BarcelonaBarcelona Firefighters rescued a worker trapped in a hole during construction on La Rambla, near Pintor Fortuny Street, at noon this Wednesday. The man is conscious and has received first aid. in situ. According to sources consulted by ARA, the worker will be transferred to Hospital Clínic, although his condition does not appear to be serious.
According to sources consulted by ARA, a group of workers were working on the pipelines when one of them was buried due to a sand slide. Specifically, they were digging a hole in the pipeline, and the mountain of sand and stones fell on him. Emergency services managed to free him with the help of heavy machinery from the same site, which removed the stones that had fallen on him. Firefighters were subsequently able to access him and extract him. The incident was reported shortly after 1:45 p.m., and firefighters were able to pull the man out of the hole an hour later.
Several units from the Emergency Medical System (SEM) were dispatched to the scene, and the Deputy Mayor for Security of the Catalan capital, Albert Batlle, also attended.
