What are the most popular names in Catalonia in 2024?
Jan and Martina lose the top spot on the list

Among girls, Júlia/Julia is the second most popular, with 396 babies bearing it, followed by Martina (349), which has been knocked off the top spot, Ona (321) and Mia (320). However, Biel (346 babies), Marc (344), Leo (343) and Nil (340) are the most common names for boys after Martí. There is no trace of Jan, the most popular name from last year, in this male ranking.
Sofía/Sofia is the most common name for girls born in the metropolitan areas and those of Ponent, while Martí does not appear as the most common in any area: Jan is the most popular in the Alt Pirineu and in the Vall d'Aran and Arnau, in the Girona regions. Among boys, in the Barcelona metropolitan area, Mateo is the most popular. Among the specificities of each area, Hugo from Penedès, Aran from Alt Pirineu and Aran, and Mohamed from Terres de l'Ebre stand out in the case of boys. Among girls, the differences are found in Arlet in Ponent, Abril in Penedès, or Aneu in Alt Pirineu.
