Vocational Training for the next academic year: 5,000 new places and an algorithm to assign studies

BarcelonaNext year there will be 4,989 new vocational training places, expanding the range with six new courses in the areas with the greatest labor needs. The vast majority of these places will be to respond to the vegetative growth of last year (thousands of first-year places were opened for students who will now have to do the second year), and a thousand will be to respond to the new offer.

During a visit to the Miquel Biada Institute in Mataró, the Minister of Education, Esther Niubó, announced the hiring of 493 professionals, including new teachers, counselors, and support staff for inclusion. All of this will involve a budget of 67.5 million euros. Of the new courses, Niubó highlighted the focus on the railway sector, as the department will double the places compared to this year, bringing them to 305, distributed in various specialties. In this sector, a railway safety course will be opened, as well as studies related to glass arts (which until now was only taught in León), funeral services, and whitewater canoeing. In addition, two specialization courses will be opened in cloud resources and services (data storage via the internet) and specialization in the coordination of personnel in professional meetings, congresses, fairs, exhibitions, and events. These are the sectors that have indicated the highest demand for personnel based on questions from the department itself.

Two admission rounds

But beyond the new degrees, the pre-registration and enrollment system also presents a novelty, after problems accessing chosen studies were repeated in the last calls and thousands of students were left without a place at first. Thus, the department reduces the admission rounds for vocational training studies from three to two in order to facilitate institutes closing the lists of applicants before August 1. On July 10, all assignments from the first round will be published, where applicants will enroll in all assigned requests.

If your first choice is not assigned, you can try to improve your assignment in the second round, and options will be offered to enroll, participate in the second round, or withdraw. Thus, online enrollment confirmation can be done between July 10 and 14, a process that must be completed before July 16 by submitting documentation in person at the center. In the second round, on July 24, all assignments will be published, and it will be necessary to effect enrollment for all requests or withdraw. Online enrollment can be done between July 24 and 28, and documentation can be submitted physically until the 29th.
