Vocational training enrollment ends with more than 15,000 vacant places.
In August, 14,800 students went on vacation without being assigned a place.

BarcelonaWith some improvement, but still with a significant imbalance between places in the courses that most interest students and those that the education system can offer. The registration period for vocational training (FP) has ended with more than 15,000 vacant places (15,232), after 14,840 students went on vacation in August without a place to the studies they desired. Although the number of vacancies and students without a place remains very high, this year there have been 4,000 fewer unallocated places than last year, when the vocational training course began with 31,000 students without a place and 19,000 vacancies available. Furthermore, in this comparison, it should be taken into account that around 7,500 new places were opened in vocational training this year.
To try to manage these vacancies, on Monday Educació va publish a map with the places that are still available across the country. According to the data published on this map, there are still 7,795 vacancies in the intermediate level (GM), a significant proportion of which (1,001) are for the intermediate level degree in Microcomputer Systems and Networks. There are also a large number of vacancies in the following areas: Administration and Management (979), Healthcare (716), Sociocultural and Community Services (571), and Commerce and Marketing (505).
Meanwhile, there are still 7,437 vacancies in the higher level degrees. The programs with the most vacancies are Sociocultural and Community Services (986), IT and Communications (707), Commerce and Marketing (620), Healthcare (595), and Hospitality and Tourism (593).
From now on, students who still want to enroll in a vocational training degree can consult the vacancy map, which is new this year and is updated periodically, specifying the number of places available for each training cycle in each of Catalonia's institutes. The tool allows you to filter vacancies by region, municipality, center, and type of study.
More than 81,000 assignments
Although Educació has announced that there are more than 15,000 vacancies, Esther Niubó's regional ministry has not yet detailed the number of students enrolled in a vocational training program or how many students are still waiting for a place. Thus, at this time, it is unknown how many of the 81,479 vocational training place assignments announced in August have actually resulted in enrollment. It is also unknown how many of the more than 14,000 students who, a priori, were left without a place remain in that situation. However, regarding these thousands of students who were not assigned a place, Educació has already stated that not all of them have been left hanging, as some of these students may have enrolled in high school or may have opted for university or private studies.
