Valencian teachers will return to the streets on September 12

ValenciaAfter a pause in the mobilizations and the indefinite teachers' strike on June 11, the involved entities have agreed on "the need to maintain unity of action and continue promoting the mobilization process," which is materialized in a call to demonstrate on September 12. "It has been agreed to continue working together within the framework of a strike, currently suspended, with the aim of resuming the demands raised to the Ministry of Education and demanding a real negotiation that provides a response to the teachers' demands," they declare.

The work of the ministry continues to be a fundamental point for the unions, who state that they continue "without having a response," and put on the table a start to the school year marked by mobilizations with the goal that they "push the public administration to reopen a dialogue process" that allows addressing "the basic needs of educational centers, improves the working conditions of teachers, and dignifies the Valencian educational system."

A year of mobilizations

Intersindical Valenciana recalls that they began the mobilizations on November 20, 2025, with concentrations at educational centers, which continued with strikes in December and March and ended with the "historic indefinite strike" between May 11 and June 11.

To continue with the demands, the entities have announced "a unitary demonstration" for next September 12 in the main cities of the Valencian Country. "This union will not only be within our territory but also with other autonomous communities that share similar demands, with the aim of strengthening the defense of public education and adding support for future mobilizations," they added, in reference to the conflict also open in Catalonia.

New strategy

Regarding this school year, it is proposed to carry out "visibility actions" such as helping with the welcome of teachers joining for the first time, wearing the school's protest t-shirt, or taking advantage of the first family meetings to explain the reasons for the mobilization. Regarding the mobilizations, the intention is to organize bicycle rides, participate in public events of the Council to highlight the conflict, or take advantage of local festivals or public events to give visibility to the demands.

To pressure the department, measures are requested such as strictly complying with the weekly schedule, not participating in projects promoted by the department, or not holding meetings with families outside of working hours; and regarding relations with universities and other institutions, "not accepting internship students from private universities," for example.

Finally, it is proposed to "send complaints in a coordinated manner to the department's email" or "promote public actions and complaints linked to Municipal School Councils," in addition to "seeking the complicity of family associations and entities linked to students with specific educational support needs" and "strengthening coordination with the Green Tides and other movements in defense of public education both in our territory and others".
