Two dead after falling into a ravine during a police chase in Anoia
The victims were driving with their lights off and their bodies were found in a puddle in the area
BarcelonaTwo men died early Thursday morning when they allegedly fell down a ravine in Anoia after a police chase. According to sources from the Mossos d'Esquadra, the officers lost sight of the vehicle during the escape until they found the crashed car on a secondary road between Vallbona d'Anoia and the Castle of Cabrera (Anoia), next to a wooded area. The bodies of both men, who have not yet been identified, were in a puddle at the bottom of a ravine in the area and where they allegedly fell when they tried to flee on foot after abandoning the crashed vehicle.
It all started when a citizen security patrol was chasing another car that around one in the morning had skipped a checkpoint on the C-15 road near Sant Pere de Riudebitlles (Alt Penedès). The officers lost sight of the vehicle, which a priori is not related to the fatal accident.
Now, after this episode, the Catalan police have located a second car, this time in Vallbona d'Anoia, which was driving without lights. The driver of the car ignored the officers' stop, who began a second chase, but also lost sight of the vehicle. According to sources from the force, they did not locate the car again until they found it crashed on a secondary road, where it had left the route. The vehicle was empty and they searched for the people who were going through the wooded area around it, but finally they found the two bodies in a puddle, under a ravine.
The police still do not know the identity of the two victims, and for now only confirm that they are two men. The Criminal Investigation Division of the Mossos has taken charge of the case to clarify it.
