BarcelonaThe Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating a new shooting with a subsequent illegal detention –for it to be a kidnapping there would have to be a ransom demand– in the metropolitan area. The incident took place this Monday around seven in the evening, when the Catalan police received notice of shots in the Ca n'Espinós housing development, one of the most troubled neighborhoods in the municipality, especially regarding drug-related issues. A witness said that a motorcyclist had been shot at from a vehicle and the attackers had loaded him, wounded, into the trunk of the same vehicle.
When the police arrived at the scene, they found the motorcycle on the ground and traces of blood. While they were carrying out procedures to identify the owner of the motorcycle from the license plate, they received notice that the man had been abandoned wounded in Sabadell. The victim was taken to the hospital: he had been shot in a non-vital area and his life is not in danger. Even so, he is in serious condition and his statement will be important to clarify the facts.
As ARA has learned, the case is being investigated as a conflict linked to public health issues. Specifically, they are looking into whether the victim had a drug debt. The Mossos are taking steps to locate the authors' vehicle and also to identify them. For the moment, there are no arrests.
