New sexist crime: Mossos d'Esquadra arrest a man for killing the couple in Constantí
The detainee confessed that he was carrying the woman's lifeless body in the trunk of his car.

BarcelonaThe Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan Police) arrested a 43-year-old man yesterday afternoon, allegedly linked to the violent death of a woman in Constantí (Tarragonès). The incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. when a patrol car assisting a tow truck on the AP-7 highway observed a vehicle stop and the driver and sole occupant get out.
Upon exiting the car, the man explained to the Catalan police officers that he had the body of a woman in the trunk, whom he claimed was his partner. The officers immediately verified the facts and arrested him as the alleged perpetrator of a homicide. After hours of investigation, the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan Police) were able to identify the victim and confirm that she was the detainee's partner, as he had previously confessed. Thus, the police are now investigating the homicide as a gender-based crime.
The victim was a resident of Calafell, according to sources at the city council who spoke to ACN. The city council has called for a protest rally for this Sunday at noon in Plaza Catalunya. The event will be led by the town's mayor, Ramon Ferré, and the regional minister for Equality and Feminism, Eva Menor. The Tarragona Criminal Investigation Division has taken over the case, which is under a gag order.
Second femicide in Catalonia
Pending official confirmation, this weekend's death will be the second victim of femicide in Catalonia in 2025. The first fatal victim of gender-based violence this year was a 35-year-old woman with a minor child who was found dead in Blanes during the autopsy of the couple who ended the incident, a crime of homicide.
