The man found in a dumpster in Lloret died from gunshot wounds and the family is asking for help to repatriate him
This year eight people have died by firearm in Catalonia
BarcelonaA resident of the Lloret Residencial urbanization opened the dumpster and saw a human arm sticking out. It was Friday and within minutes this spot in La Selva was swarming with police. Inside the dumpster was the body of a man with clear signs of violence. In fact, he had been shot.
Homicide specialists from the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of the Mossos took on the case, worked to identify the victim, and reviewed security cameras in the area. The main hypothesis is that someone killed him elsewhere and then abandoned the body in the dumpster. Specifically, as reported by the ACN, the Mossos searched a property on Saturn street this Monday and found bloodstains and several bullet holes in the garage. Sources close to the case indicate that one of the main hypotheses is that the perpetrators killed the man in the house's garage and transported him to the dumpster area where they left him and where a witness found him.
However, the police are handling this case with great secrecy because, according to sources consulted by ARA, they have a very clear line of investigation that could lead to the resolution of the crime and they do not want any information to affect the case.
The victim, a man around 30 years old, has already been identified and, in fact, according to police sources, his family has launched a campaign to raise funds to transport the body to his country of origin, Gambia.
"Last Friday we received sad news that has left the family in immense pain. We call on the entire community to, within their possibilities, help us raise funds to make his repatriation to Gambia possible so that he can rest with his loved ones," the campaign states.
Following this initiative, the family's circle has raised the 10,000 euros they requested in just a few days. Most of it has come from small donations of five, ten, and twenty euros from anonymous individuals, although some people have also donated 150 euros.
The fact that this homicide was by shooting – information first reported by the ACN – means that eight people have died by firearms in Catalonia this year. Last year, there were also eight fatalities.
