The man found in a dumpster in Lloret died of gunshot wounds and the family asks for help to repatriate him

BarcelonaA resident of the Lloret Residencial urbanization opened the dumpster and saw a human arm sticking out. It was Friday and within minutes this spot in La Selva was filled with police officers. Inside the dumpster was the body of a man with clear signs of violence. In fact, he had been shot.

Homicide specialists from the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of the Mossos took on the case, have worked to identify the victim, and have reviewed security cameras in the area. The main hypothesis is that someone killed him elsewhere and then abandoned the body in the dumpster.

However, the police are handling this case with great secrecy because, according to sources consulted by ARA, they have a very clear line of investigation that could lead to the resolution of the crime and they do not want any information to affect the case.

The victim, a man of about 30 years old, has reportedly already been identified and, in fact, according to police sources, his family has launched a campaign to raise funds to be able to transfer the body to his country of origin, Gambia.

"Last Friday we received sad news that has left the family steeped in immense sorrow. We call on the entire community to, within their means, help us raise funds to make his repatriation to Gambia possible so he can rest with his own," the campaign states.

Following this initiative, the victim's family circle has raised the 10,000 euros they requested in a few days. The majority have been small donations, of five, ten, and twenty euros from anonymous individuals, although there have also been people who have donated 150 euros.

The fact that this homicide was by shooting – information first reported by the ACN – means that eight people have already died by firearm in Catalonia this year. Last year, there were also eight fatalities.
