The Liceu Conservatory provisionally removes a teacher accused of groping
A student filed an internal complaint against the teacher, who had been teaching for three decades.
BarcelonaThe Liceu Conservatory Foundation has temporarily suspended a professor "from all teaching activities" after a student accused him of groping. According to a statement, the school has initiated an internal investigation to "clarify the facts and take appropriate measures." The Newspaper has published that there could be others, the foundation has decided to temporarily remove the teacher. They did so after "reviewing the matter internally." He had been at the school for three decades.
In the same statement, the foundation emphasizes that once information about the first case became known, a reminder was sent to the entire educational community about the existence of formal communication channels to report situations like those indicated, and they requested that they be used to share information. Following the student's complaint, the school decided to transfer the student to a different class, as did other classmates who also requested it, and the established protocol was activated. The foundation emphasized that the student expressed his desire not to file a formal complaint, but did want to not maintain any type of academic relationship or coincidence with the teacher.
