Some of those investigated in the pedophilia network have minor children and stable partners.

However, several of those investigated in one of the most important pedophilia cases in the history of Catalonia share a similar profile. For example, according to court documents provided by Efe, some of them had young children and stable partners.

One of those investigated was caring for a newborn at the time of the investigation, another had a child of eight months, and a third, a child of just over a year. Furthermore, many of them had stable jobs. The leader of the network was an electrician. for whom the Prosecutor's Office has requested a sentence of 107 years in prisonto rape and record child pornography at the expense of a minor in the care of the General Directorate for the Care of Children and Adolescents (DGAIA). While he has a record for prostitution of minors in Valencia, other suspects do not.

In June of last year, the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) dismantled this pedophilia ring, which is being investigated by Barcelona's Investigative Court No. 7, after identifying eleven victims, although the number could rise to 25, and arresting sixteen pedophiles, although more than 16 are depicted in the videos. This case dates back to 2020 and, due to its complexity, has up to three open cases in the courts. Regarding one of the cases, the Barcelona Court stated in a resolution that it involved "continuous conduct over time and a high number of extremely serious criminal acts of a sexual nature."

Several of those investigated in the initial case, that of the minor under the care of the Generalitat (Catalan government) who was 12 years old when the attacks began, argued in court that they were unaware the victim was a minor. However, one of them did admit to being aware of her young age. One of those involved even admitted in messages to the ringleader, who had facilitated the attack, his discomfort with the victim's age. The Barcelona Court rebutted that the victim was "a precocious adolescent and not an adult" and that she appeared to be "very close to her actual age," without in any way being considered "a young and already sexually mature woman."
