A sexual assault against a minor is being investigated in the Pedralbes neighborhood of Barcelona.

BarcelonaThe Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) have opened an investigation into an alleged sexual assault of a minor on Cavallers Street in Barcelona, ​​​​in the Pedralbes neighborhood, according to El Caso and police sources confirmed to ARA. The victim is 15 years old.

The security force has specified that the sexual assault occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning. Officers were notified of the events at around 4 a.m., although initial reports indicate that the assault occurred a couple of hours earlier near a nightclub on Cavallers Street, at the top of the Catalan capital.

Police sources explain that the alleged rape occurred in a public place, a few meters from the nightclub, but officers insist that, according to the initial information available to them, the assault occurred on the street and not on the premises of the nightclub.

The police are still waiting to receive a formal complaint from the victim, who had to be referred to a hospital for treatment following the assault. Once officers can speak with her and she gives her statement, they will be able to reconstruct the events. At this time, the police have not identified the attacker and, therefore, have not made any arrests. However, according to sources familiar with the case, there may be a single perpetrator.

Last year, the Hospital Clínic, the leading center for victims of sexual assault in Barcelona, ​​treated 682 women.
