BarcelonaThe Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating a second rape of a minor during the Tura festival in Olot. The fifteen-year-old victim reported that on Saturday, September 6, a man sexually assaulted her as she walked home alone, around 3:00 a.m. Two hours earlier A first rape of another minor also occurred at the Olot festivities., in a secluded area away from the attractions. The first victim lived in a Generalitat (Catalan) Residential Center for Educational Action (CRAE), and the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) arrested a 23-year-old man this Monday as the alleged perpetrator of the rape, precisely the day the report of the second assault was formally filed. In this last case, no one has yet been arrested.
At this point, police sources do not link the two incidents, although they admit that there are some common threads. In the first case, according to the report, the young woman met two young men and began talking to her. After a while, the rape occurred in a public street. The Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) have arrested the alleged perpetrator, but are searching for a second man for being an aid to the attack.
In the second case, the victim left the concert area and walked home. During the journey, three people allegedly intercepted him without exchanging a word, and one of them allegedly sexually assaulted him. Both cases are believed to have been individual attacks, but other young people—one in the first case and two in the second—may have facilitated the situation.
However, the investigation has not linked the two attacks, and based on the description provided by the victim and other evidence, the police are trying to find the perpetrators. In the first case, the victim recognized the alleged perpetrator, having seen him around the town. In this case, the Generalitat (Catalan government) has already announced that it would file a joint prosecution in court.
