BarcelonaThe project for a new health centre in North Raval's Capella de la Misericòrdia, after it was decided the space would not hold Macba's expansion, is on its way. The Generalitat has awarded the project to Nogué-Onzain-López Arquitectura SLP, which is the team that won the competition in which 43 companies participated. The winning project plans to preserve the structure of the chapel and integrate it into the new building. The forecast with which it works, as reported by the City Council, is to launch the works during the third quarter of next year, before the summer, once the drafting of the project has been completed. The new primary care center Lluís Sayé ought to be completed in 2025.

The City Council handed over the chapel, which is locally listed, to the Catalan Health Service (CatSalut) so they could convert it into a new health centre, which will occupy 2,500 square metres. It is estimated that the works will cost around €7m. The new building will increase the capacity of the health care system in North Raval. It will have twelve GP surgeries, twelve rooms for nurse consultation, an unscheduled care area -which will have four multi-purpose/extraction boxes, a treatment area and an emergency/observation area-, a health education classroom and a multi-purpose area.
