A teacher from Granollers arrested with 100,000 files of pedophilic content

BarcelonaThe National Police have arrested a primary school teacher for possession and distribution of child pornography. According to what ARA has been able to ascertain, the teacher is 62 years old and worked at a school in Granollers, although he lived in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, where he was arrested. During the search of his apartment, officers seized more than 100,000 files with child sexual abuse content, according to a police statement released this Monday.

The arrest took place on Wednesday of last week, April 15. Due to the time of day, officers went to Granollers to arrest the teacher, believing he would be at work, but they did not find him there because he was on medical leave. According to sources close to the case, they finally arrested him at his home in Santa Coloma de Gramenet.

The investigation began when the police discovered during a network scan a person who was sharing and distributing pornographic material involving minors through eDonkey (P2P network). The arrested individual used one of the most popular online networks in Spain, where users from anywhere in the world can connect and thus download, as well as share files of any type, including images and videos of pedophilic content.

More than 100,000 files with pedophilic content

As a result of police investigations, investigators managed to identify and locate the suspect. During the judicial order entry and search of the teacher's home, the police seized computer hardware and mass storage devices, where he kept the illegal files, in which more than three terabytes of data and more than 100,000 files were located.

In the exploitation phase of this police operation, the UCC – Central Unit for Cybercrime of the General Police Commissioner's Office of Judicial Police–, group 22 of the BPPJ – Provincial Brigade of Judicial Police of Barcelona–, and the Local Brigade of Judicial Police of Sant Adrià participated jointly.
