A volcanic eruption started this Sunday at 15.12 h at Cumbre Vieja, on the island of La Palma, in the Canary Islands, after a week in which some 25,000 earthquakes have accumulated in the area, which started at a depth of 20 kilometres but have been progressively rising to the surface.
