BarcelonaIn the 2025-2026 academic year, all primary and secondary school students in Catalonia will also receive a school voucher. As announced by government spokesperson Silvia Paneque, the government has already begun the process of returning the voucher for the next academic year. The voucher value will be the same as this year (€60) and can be redeemed at any of the participating retail establishments or donated to schools so the money can be used to jointly purchase school supplies for primary or secondary schools. Thus, the school voucher campaign launched by the Pere Aragonès administration will be repeated for the third consecutive academic year. To this end, the government will allocate €50 million and plans to reach 795,000 students in public and private schools across the country.

As Paneque explained this Tuesday, all families with children in primary or secondary school will receive two €30 school vouchers at home at the end of June, but they can also obtain them from the Valescolar.cat website. In any case, the vouchers must be activated through the same website, whether the family wants to use them to purchase school supplies at a participating store or donate the voucher to the school or secondary school. Whichever option they choose, the vouchers can be redeemed until November 30, 2025. In this sense, the Government insists that the vouchers "will be used exclusively to purchase non-inventory school supplies, meaning writing instruments, stationery, books, dictionaries, calculators, backpacks, and educational games."

Third edition, despite criticism

Although the Court of Auditors made a statement at the time A highly critical report questioning the school voucher and asserting that the measure "does not contribute to promoting greater equity among students.", the government of Salvador Illa has decided to continue with school vouchers next year as well. According to the government, the measure is part of the goal of pursuing equal opportunities through educational equity.

They also argue that the executive has launched a third edition after noting "the broad acceptance of the initiative by families, who in the two previous editions used more than 90% of the vouchers." The government also highlights the "very positive" assessment by the entire commercial sector, with more than 2,000 establishments participating in each campaign.
