BarcelonaFerrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) has been forced to limit service again on the Llobregat-Anoia line due to a new incident involving Adif at the Gornal tunnel in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, very similar to the one from last week. All of this occurred 24 hours after service had been normalized following the previous breakdown at the same point. This was confirmed to ARA by sources from the public company.

The day after restoring service—which was affected for a week—new incidents of ballast detachment occurred, the stones found around the tracks. What exactly happened? A crack or detachment on an Adif siding track, which runs on the surface, caused ballast to fall down into the Gornal tunnel, where FGC trains circulate. This directly affects the R5, R6, S3, and S8 lines of FGC and has forced the Catalan operator to limit service once again.

Sources from Ferrocarrils explain that technicians from Adif and FGC are already working to repair the breakdown again. Meanwhile, the Catalan operator has been forced to operate on a single track, which implies the reorganization of all trains.

In this way, until further notice, the S3 operates with reduced service and one train per hour in each direction. The S8 runs between Plaça Espanya and Martorell Enllaç with one train every 15 minutes (four per hour in each direction). As for the R5 and R6 (those for Manresa and Igualada), the trains start and end at L'Hospitalet-Av. Carrilet, with two trains per hour in each direction on each line.
