A Halloween worthy of the United States
The Halloween celebration is entirely self-organized by the residents of Montcada, and community involvement is growing every year: anyone strolling through Terra Nostra on October 31st won't know if they're in Montcada or have been teleported to an American suburb. Year after year, the residents compete to see who has the best decorations, the best costume, or the best haunted house, and this year they don't intend to make it easy for the judges to choose winners.
The celebration will kick off at 6:00 PM on the 31st with the traditional "scream" or "confit," and the haunted houses and decorations can be visited from that time until approximately 2:00 AM. For the more easily frightened, there will also be a Castañada celebration, with a panellet (small almond cake) contest, muscatel wine, and 250 kilos of chestnuts ready to roast.
