Dies by electric shock a train track maintenance worker in Sant Mori
The victim is a 66-year-old man and the events occurred in the early morning
BarcelonaA worker who was carrying out maintenance on the train tracks near Sant Mori (Alt Empordà) died early this Saturday morning. According to police sources, he suffered an electric shock while maintaining the railway line, halfway between the Sant Miquel de Fluvià and Camallera stations. At the latter, Adif has been carrying out works for some time. The victim is a 66-year-old man.
At the time of the accident, it was close to three in the morning and the worker was on a section of track that is difficult to access by road. Police sources indicate that for this reason his colleague, after the accident, decided to take him to the nearest station, Camallera, using the railway vehicle they were working with. During the journey, the victim was still breathing and the colleague's objective was to reach a point more accessible to emergency services.
The first to arrive were a patrol from the Mossos d'Esquadra, who used the AED defibrillator they carry in their car. Firefighters from the Generalitat and the Emergency Medical System (SEM) also travelled to Camallera station, but despite their efforts, the man died.
A hearse also went to the station this Saturday morning to collect the victim's body, according to witnesses at the scene who spoke to ARA.
Three days after the collapse on the R2
This accident at the Camallera station construction site occurs the same week that there has been a collapse at the construction site to bury the R2 line tracks, on the border between Barcelona and Montcada i Reixac. Due to this incident, lines R2, R2 Nord, and R11 continue to operate with disruptions. In this case, there were no personal injuries, and witnesses told ARA that a few minutes before the collapse, a loud noise alerted people at the site and caused everyone to leave just before the collapse.
To these traffic incidents, another was added this Saturday, a shutdown on the R3 line. In this case, traffic has been suspended due to a problem in the railway traffic regulation system, and the alternative for users is to go to the R4 line.
