Jonathan Andic's driver in Ecuador explains to the Mossos what he told him about the missing mobile phone

One of the elements under investigation by the Mossos d'Esquadra is the lightning trip to Ecuador made by Jonathan Andic, who is under investigation for the death of his father and founder of Mango, Isak Andic. In this South American country, Jonathan Andic claims that his mobile phone was stolen, the same device he was carrying the day his progenitor died. The Catalan police, however, suspected that the firstborn of the Andics got rid of the phone during this trip. Now, a witness has supported the version put forward by the defense: that his mobile phone was stolen in Quito. As reported by El Nacional and confirmed by ARA, it is a man who acted as his driver and who explained to the Mossos investigators that Andic told him that his mobile had been stolen and that he even accompanied him to buy a new one.

The disappearance of the mobile phone was in March 2025, three months after the death of Isak Andic and when the press reported that the case was being reopened. According to the judge, the device disappeared in a "suspicious" manner and under "strange" circumstances. Andic's trip to Quito was a lightning one, as he returned to Catalonia two days later. The Mossos also suspected this trip because, as they indicated, Andic disconnected some tracking applications such as La Meva Salut.

Editorial initiative

According to defense sources, the investigation has also confirmed that the reason for this trip was the publication of a book about the method used by the Andics' psychotherapist, J.L., who has roots in Ecuador. Sources close to Andic point out that this editorial project was started by Isak and that Jonathan continued it once his father passed away. This was the reason for the trip to Quito, where the driver who supports the version of the phone theft was his chauffeur for most of the journeys. The driver stated to the Mossos that the son of the founder of Mango told him that his mobile phone had been stolen and asked him to take him to buy a new one, and he waited for an hour in front of the telephone store.

Precisely, this Friday it also transpired that Jonathan Andic had allegedly been interested in a therapy by J.L. that consisted of simulating a relative's fall down a ravine as a way to establish trust between the two people in conflict. This information emerges from the statement of a collaborator of the therapist, who a few months ago went to the Mossos investigators to provide information about the Andic case. This woman –who also worked as an English translator– explained that the therapy was intended for another client, but that Jonathan became interested in it when he learned about it. Sources consulted by ARA also point out that this therapy was a topic of conversation between the collaborator and the therapist. The defense of Jonathan Andic, however, categorically denies this interest.
