BarcelonaFundesplai is already feeling the consequences of the decision by more than 500 schools and institutes not to hold camp activities next academic year as a protest measure against the agreement that the Department of Education signed with CCOO and UGT, but not with Ustec, the majority union. This Tuesday, the president of Fundesplai, Núria Valls, warned that the entity currently has 70% fewer bookings for camp houses for the next academic year compared to last year. Furthermore, she warned that this drop in bookings also jeopardizes up to 310 jobs.

Although the entity says it "understands" and shares a large part of the teachers' demands, the general director of Fundesplai, Cristina Rodríguez, also admitted that the pressure tactic of not holding camp activities and outings is having "a great impact" on the sector. In this regard, she also insisted on the importance of these types of activities for educational purposes: "Camp activities are essential spaces for working on values, attitudes, and habits that cannot be addressed in the classroom," she stated.

The general director of Fundesplai said this during a meeting with journalists on Tuesday to present the entity's annual report. In fact, she also explained that Fundesplai reached 423,840 participants in 2025 across all transformative educational, social, and environmental activities. This figure represents an increase of approximately 100,000 participants compared to the 328,214 in 2022, a 30% increase in three years. For the summer, the entity will offer leisure activities with more than 105,000 places in a campaign focused on the emotional well-being of children and young people.

Pasture and drones

Among all the activities, Rodríguez has highlighted a work camp for young people framed within the profession of shepherding and the traditional food sustainability system, and a big party for the summer camps with 2,000 children between July 7 and 10. Camps on artificial intelligence and drones will also be organized; a marine biology campus with the CRAM, and a social journalism campus, in addition to nature and adventure colonies and camps. In parallel, he announced the educational proposal With voice and standing, together with FundiPau, which advocates for leisure work "in times of growing warmongering and hate speech".

In this regard, the entity has also positioned itself on the Government's pilot plan to incorporate plainclothes police officers in educational centers, and they have said that they advocate for education in favor of peace and against violence. Fundesplai reiterates that there are no conflicts in high schools that require this police presence.
