Four arrested for the murder of the scrap metal businessman from Martorell

BarcelonaThe Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested four people this Wednesday morning for their alleged connection with the murder of Magí OF, lScrap metal businessman from Martorell who was found dead in his home last November, when he was 70 years old. After four months of investigation, the Catalan police have managed to identify and arrest four men aged between 27 and 29. On the night of 21 November, the daughter found the father's body, after neighbours had warned her because his car was badly parked in the entrances to the tower where he lived in the Camí Fondo neighbourhood. She found him tied up and gagged, and with some bruises. Everything was in disarray and valuables had been taken.

Thus, the main hypothesis is that he had suffered a violent robbery with the worst of endings. According to the ARA, this is still the main hypothesis: the four men would have broken into the house to steal and during the robbery Magí OF would have died.

In addition, he had already been robbed before, according to police sources. In statements to ARA, neighbours and acquaintances of the victim agreed that the victim used to show off the high standard of living he could have. "He always talked about money and that is very dangerous because you don't know who can feel you," they explained. Sources of the investigation also point out that he was a man known for his eccentricities and that he made a lot of displays of the money he had. The tower was surrounded by security cameras.

Three arrests have taken place this Wednesday in Barcelona and one in Mollet del Vallès, where the suspects live. During the arrest, their homes were searched to obtain more evidence related to the crime. The investigation was led by the DIC of the Metropolitan Region South.
