BarcelonaA forest fire in Orés, in the province of Zaragoza, has already burned more than 12,600 hectares of forest and has forced the evacuation of a thousand residents from five municipalities in the Cinco Villas region. According to the Aragonese Firefighters, the fire advanced "significantly" last Thursday night and, despite intense work, the flames have burned more surface area than initially expected.

As reported by the forest fire prevention and extinction device of the government of Aragon (Infoar), last night the fire reached the municipalities of Malpica de Arba and Uncastillo and these locations had to be protected. The residents, along with those from Orés, Asín and Luesia, had to leave their homes as a precaution and still do not know when they will be able to return. In addition, several roads in the regional network are closed.

Last night, from Thursday to Friday, ground work for extinguishing the fire intensified, and this morning a relief of brigade personnel and the incorporation of air resources are planned. At the moment, level 2 of the Special Civil Protection Plan for Forest Fires (PROCINFO) is activated.

The Vice President of the Spanish Government and Minister for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Sara Aagesen, visited this Friday the advanced command post located in Farasdués, in Zaragoza, to learn about the fire situation firsthand, accompanied by the President of Aragon, Jorge Azcón.

The Lozoyuela fire is evolving favorably

For 24 hours now, a fire has also been burning in Lozoyuela, Madrid, which has already affected about 770 hectares. The fire is stabilized, which has allowed the population of two municipalities to be unconfined, and now there are no longer any indications for any resident to stay at home. Beyond the evolution of the flames, this Thursday the Civil Guard arrested a 52-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of this fire. The arrest was made thanks to the alert from several residents who reported seeing a person "wandering around the area where the fire had started". The man is to be brought before the court.
